By popular demand - and the fact that scoreboard watching in September is actually relevant to Mariners fans this year - here is a thread for everyone to gather and root against the teams near the M’s!
Two of the three relevant games are well underway at this point, with the Rays and Red Sox scoreless in the bottom of the sixth at Fenway thanks to a true pitchers’ duel between Nathan Eovaldi and Shane McClanahan, while the Blue Jays have jumped out to a 3-0 lead over the Yankees in New York in the top of the fifth, thanks to a very wild Luis Gil (seven walks in 3.1 innings! Yikes!). The A’s and White Sox don’t start for another forty-five minutes or so, and let’s all hope a ~declining Dallas Keuchel can keep Oakland’s bats at bay. Frankie Montas is no walk in the park, but Chicago’s potent offense stands a chance in nearly every matchup.
Go Rays/White Sox/Yankees*!
*Or Blue Jays - both seem like valid options.
