Good morning, everyone! Geez, the last two games have been brutal. We seem to be experiencing the negative side effects of the Mariners’ more glaring roster holes: a Keynan Middleton here, a Jake Bauers there, both used in the most high-leverage spots possible. Not ideal.
The good news is, well, they get to try again today.

Chris Flexen takes the mound for the Mariners while the Yankees counter with longtime Angel Andrew Heaney. Heaney had a disastrous first start with the Yankees, giving up four dingers to the Orioles in just four innings earlier this week. He’s actually struggled all year, to the tune of a 5.42 ERA, though his 3.90 xFIP suggests that he’s been unlucky.
Of other note is that J.P. Crawford gets a day off, with Dylan Moore slotting into shortstop. Abraham Toro will be batting leadoff. I think everyone is happy with him getting additional plate appearances.
