8/30/21: Open Game Thread

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for: Jake Bauers is no longer the fourth outfielder on the Seattle Mariners roster! What’s that, you ask? DFA’d? The answer, sadly, is no. Bauers is now the team’s fifth outfielder with José Marmolejos being called up today from Triple-A Tacoma.

Marmo immediately gets a start tonight in left field. Regardless of the outcome of the game, it should be entertaining. Marmo’s offense: good. Marmo’s defense: bad.

Aside from that, the Mariners will be running out their standard lefty-heavy lineup against Astros righty Luis García. De facto ace Chris Flexen takes the hill for the Mariners tonight, which is a fun sentence to type.
