marco v folty round two

MLB: Texas Rangers at Seattle Mariners Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

It wouldn’t be a Mariners/Rangers series without facing Mike Foltynewicz - tonight will mark the sixth and final time this season Seattle will face the tall right-hander. Countering Folty will be Marco Gonzales, and wait didn’t we just see this exact matchup last week?

The M’s lineup is nearly identical to the one Scott Servais ran out last night, and seeing Luis Torrens in there against a righty is a good endorsement of his torrid week - that slump is moving further and further in the rear view mirror. Notably, Jake Bauers is absent, and while a string of lefty starters has contributed to this, he hasn’t appeared in a game since the 11th. One can’t help but wonder if his time in Seattle is finally drawing to a close. Texas is once again breaking out an almost entirely right-handed lineup against Marco, but that shouldn’t bother him much. It’ll be hard to ask for much more than the one-run complete game he threw against these Rangers his last time out, but regardless, he should be able to turn in another solid outing and continue bouncing back in the second half.
