Good morning! After a bit of summer traveling, I’m excited to be back and continuing with the links. The Mariners are on their way to Arlington, Texas for a three game series against the Rangers after closing out the homestand against the Blue Jays last night with an 8-3 loss. With that, let’s jump right in:
In Mariners News...
- With the NFL season around the corner, Danny O’Neil at 710 ESPN Seattle believes that the Mariners aren’t ready to hand over the spotlight to the Seahawks juuuust yet.
- Jonatan Clase continues to impress.
What do we have here?!? #Mariners OF Jonatan Clase first professional AB as a right-handed hitter!! This comes as a quite a surprise to me and adds another layer of intrigue. The speedy 19-year old is hitting .245/.333/.388 with 2 HR and 16 SB in 57 PA in the ACL. #SeaUsRise https://t.co/fSaX1jjzWD

Around the League...
- Fernando Tatis Jr. made his return from the IL yesterday after a 15-day absence, and picked up right where he left off. Homering twice off of Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen, he finished 4-5 with four RBIs in his first game back.
- The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed RHP Bryse Wilson and OF Anthony Alford on IL. Former Mariner Ben Gamel, who has just come off of the IL, will take one of the roster spots. LHP Dillon Peters, who was recently recalled from Triple-A, will take the remaining spot.
- The Boston Red Sox have claimed infielder Travis Shaw off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers. A spot on the roster became available for him yesterday as Josh Taylor was placed on the COVID IL.
