After a return of good ol-fashioned Chaos Ball last night, the Mariners attempt to secure a series split with the A’s tonight. It’s going to be tough sledding for the Mariners hitters, though, as the A’s will be running out the ace of their rotation in Chris Bassitt, who, as Jake pointed out in the series preview, should have been a first-ballot All-Star this year instead of an injury replacement. The Mariners will counter with Logan Gilbert, who’s making a strong case to be considered the ace of his own rotation after stringing together several impressive outings over his last few games.
