Good morning everyone! We’ve got the second half kicking off today for all of baseball as the trade deadline nears. Here’s what’s going on in the sport.
In Mariners news...

Around the league...
- Easy to see both the pure talent and the rawness of that talent on display here.
You wanna see Jasson Dominguez hit a triple then trip and fall into third base? Of course you do. pic.twitter.com/O78hxxKPce

- Marc Normandin at Baseball Prospectus makes the case for giving players a real break during the All-Star Break in order to prevent players from opting out of the game. ($)
- Take advantage of this deal to watch some of the top M’s prospects this weekend!

- Yesterday’s game between the Red Sox and the Yankees was postponed after six players on the Yankees tested positive for COVID-19 (Jonathan Loaisiga, Nestor Cortes, Jr., Wandy Peralta, Aaron Judge, Kyle Higashioka, and Gio Urshela). Judge’s positive test creates a bunch of contact tracing problems given that he was at the All-Star Game and thus was in contact with players from every team.
- We’ve got our first deal of the trade season! It’s a weird one when you consider the Braves’ playoff odds are in single digits according to Fangraphs.
