6/29/21: Open Game Thread

First off, congratulations to all in the Pacific Northwest who made it through this past weekend. Never before has 85 degrees in Seattle felt so welcome. The good feelings didn’t last too long, unfortunately, thanks to MLB dropping the hammer on Héctor Santiago.

John has a more detailed writeup of the situation here, but all of this reeks of MLB incompetence and lack of accountability. The glove wasn’t even tested! The foreign substance was never named in the report! Due to Santiago appealing, he will be available for at least today, and I’m hopeful that he has a shot at winning.

Chris Flexen is coming off a solid start against the Rockies, and will look to end a strong June on a high note. Gone this year are the long-time command issues for Robbie Ray, but the hard contact problem persists. Here’s to the Mariners squaring him up in between strikeouts.
