A RAY OF SUNSHINE: M’S TAKE ON TAMPA NINE

MLB: Minnesota Twins at Seattle Mariners Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Friday! We’ve got beautiful weather and baseball on tap tonight.

Our first update is on the transaction side, where the Mariners kept us busy earlier today:

After Dunn was pulled after just a few innings yesterday, this move seemed imminent. Per the various beat reporters, Dunn has had an MRI but we don’t know the results yet, though Scott Servais sounded optimistic. It’s still worrying to have a player who missed a start immediately go down with the same ailment, but time will tell.

Meanwhile, it’s fantastic to see Vinny Nittoli up from Tacoma to hopefully make his major league debut in the days to come. The Mariners’ 25th-round pick has bounced around multiple organizations — and indy ball, even — before returning to the org. He’s more than five years older than Alex Jackson, the team’s first-round pick in the same draft. (Given Jackson’s career -19 OPS+, Nittoli might well be a better hitter than him, too.)

Anyway: lineups!
