The Tampa Bay Rays have gotten themselves in the news a few ways of late, with the best record in MLB despite dealing Blake Snell and sitting on several of the sport’s top prospects, thanks to a balanced club that is among the better teams in baseball in all three facets of the game. With that said, as Jake noted in today’s series preview, they are a marvelous test for these Seattle Mariners, still wavering between intriguing and uninspiring from one night to another.
Seattle’s matchup tonight is a tough one, as they face the ageless wonder Rich Hill, a lefty against a club most potent when it stacks lefties at the dish. The M’s will oppose Tampa Bay with Justin Dunn, who has continued his frustrating single-combat with bases on balls this season. Jake Fraley was a worrying late scratch tonight, leaving Seattle with Shed Long Jr. in left field once again.
