An old friend comes to town as the Mariners run out... a passable lineup?

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

After a wet, dreary weekend away from Seattle, the Mariners are back in town! Today started out just as dreary, but the clouds have begun to clear as the Mariners get set to take on a heavily disappointing Minnesota Twins team.

The Twins’ terrible season to date would not be nearly as sad were it not for the presence of Nelson Cruz. Twins! Nelson Cruz is 40 years old! Stop wasting the crescendo of his career!

Taking the hill for the Twins is Kenta Maeda, who was already having a an awful year before a right adductor strain took him out of commission for a few weeks. This is his first start back, and he’ll likely be somewhat limited, giving the Mariners the opportunity to take a chunk out of the Twins’ bullpen in game one of this three-game series.

Look, I’m not saying this Mariner lineup is good. Oh, no. Definitely not. But, I will say that this Mariner lineup is not completely terrible. Every single player in the lineup has an argument to be on a Major League Baseball team. And, you know, that’s more than can be said for a lot of Mariner lineups this season.
