After a disappointing loss last night, the Mariners try to salvage a series win behind Justus Sheffield. The onus is on Sheffield to go deep into the game to try to save Seattle’s battered bullpen before the off-day tomorrow. No pressure, Sheff.

Today’s game is actually the game the Mariners were given the best chance to win, while still being not at all favored to win. Dane Dunning is pretty good, so I don’t have a great feeling about this one, but he’s also on my Extremely Cursed fantasy team, so there’s a good shot things could still go sideways.

In yet another lineup configuration, J.P. moves into the leadoff spot; Ty France gets a breather today, and Mitch Haniger gets a break from playing in the field. That means we get Marmolejos in the spacious confines of Globe Life’s outfield, which could lead to some hijinks.

The Mariners made a roster move today, putting Ljay Newsome on the 10-day IL and selecting J.T. Chargois from Tacoma. If you’re in Tacoma, start getting stretched out, because soon you’ll be pitching for the Rainiers.

Today’s game is an early one, kicking off at 11:35 AM PT, and you can find it on ROOT NW or 710 ESPN. Also, if you’re out of area but don’t have MLB TV, you can watch today’s game for free—actually, all of MLB TV is free today (except the Sunday night game), so, you know, go nuts out there. Eat all the baseballs like it’s a brunch buffet.
