FanPost Friday: Who’s next?

The crops down on the farm are ready for HARVEST (why does this sound like a horror movie tagline?)

Hello and welcome back to FanPost Friday! It’s been quite a week in Mariners-ville as the team graduated not one, but two of its farm system’s most highly-ranked prospects in Jarred Kelenic and Logan Gilbert. That was a lot of hype for one Thursday night game in May!

One fun aspect of having a highly-ranked and talent-rich farm system is that we’re going to get to do this whole MLB debut thing quite often if all goes as planned. One of my favorite things about following sports, and especially with baseball, is following a player’s development and ascent to the game’s biggest stage. Something about the time put in to following them on their journey makes their arrival and any success they have feel that much more earned, deserved, and fulfilling as a fan.

If not for the pandemic, quite a few of these players would be either closer to MLB-ready or may have already been called up if there had been a full minors season in 2020. But, as things stand, it may take a few months of minor league play to really get a sense of where some of these prospects are at in their development. It might be a few months before we see another significant call-up, or it could be next week. Who knows? So, that got me thinking about this week’s prompt!

Prompt: Who’s Next?

For a beatdown? Haha, no (Editor’s note: the Angels, always and obviously). No, I mean who’s next to get called up to THE SHOW? Let’s hit the poll and then y’all can discuss in the comments.

Bonus!

Oh yeah, let’s check out last week’s poll results to see how many people picked May 13 for Kelenic’s call-up! I picked the first week of June, so what do I know anyways?

Congrats all 96 of you who picked correctly! Now go pick up a lotto ticket or hit the casino, I guess.

Have a great weekend and here’s to promising outcomes from prospects!
