Well, the Mariners have been playing games that count for about a week now and things are looking a bit grim already. James Paxton needs TJ surgery, Jake Fraley and Evan White are out with leg injuries, large chunks of the lineup look utterly lost at the plate, and here we are with an off-day on a Friday because they refuse to put roofs on Midwestern ballparks (except Milwaukee, you’re cool and smart for doing that).
So I’ve got a prompt to take our mind off current events. Let’s slip into what could have been as we look back on players we can’t believe weren’t Mariners at some point.
Prompt!
Give me your dream roster of players who were once rumored to either sign as free agents or be traded to the Mariners. This can be from any time in the team’s history and I’ll give you plenty of leeway on how strong the rumors were. I’m talking Prince Fielder, Peter Bourjos, He Who Shall Not Be Named, and so on and so forth. Sound off in the comments if you think someone has been forgotten or if you think the connection is too tenuous.
Copy and paste the positions into your comment and give me your picks:
