There are currently two Mariner rookies with strikeout rates above 25%. They are José Marmolejos, a guy who still has rookie eligibility and likes striking out, and Taylor Trammell, a true rookie who like likes striking out.
Since their seasons are from over, and they could each theoretically dip below the 25% threshold, we’ll leave them off. This quiz only includes full season numbers, though this will be an interesting test of who actually reads this, as Marmolejos is on here from last year. Nobody will be shocked to learn that this group skews pretty modern. There’s two guys from the ‘80s and eight from the 2010s, when the three true outcome revolution started to take hold.
Other Mariner rookies who struck out a quarter of the time:
- A Rookie of the Year
- Two of, let’s call it, the seven or eight best hitters in franchise history
- Several players who were straight up awful
- One guy who was on the Lookout Landing podcast
