Last night was pretty much a perfect win in a season that’s quickly winding down. Hopefully the Mariners can keep it going for a little while longer.
Mariners-Astros lineups, 6:10 p.m. PT at T-Mobile Park. Mariners are 3 back of Houston with 6 games to go. Astros' magic number to clinch No. 2 AL West spot is 3 (any combo of Houston wins and Seattle losses in last 6 games). So these are all essentially must-win games. pic.twitter.com/AQSDWO8mbU

Ljay Newsome got knocked around in his last outing against the Giants, with his changeup being ineffective and a tight zone robbing him of the high strikes he lives off of. Hopefully his quick pace can keep the Astros off balance tonight. Jake Fraley, just recalled from the alternate site to take the place of Dylan Moore, who hit the concussion IL earlier today, slots in at left field, and should be more enjoyable there to watch than The Adventures of José Marmolejos. With a lefty on the mound in Framber Valdez, Luís Torrens moves all the way up to fifth in the batting order, and Ty France will man second base in Moore’s absence. With Valdez boasting the best ground ball percentage in baseball at nearly 60%, pitches to drive might be few and far between tonight. Let’s hope Seattle can capitalize.
