Hello, and welcome to the second-to-last edition of Sunday baseball for the Seattle Mariners. That’s right: the season ends just one week from today. Time flies. The M’s are taking on the San Diego Padres in the rubber match of a bizarre three-game series in which the M’s are the “home team” in San Diego.
After just one week ago entertaining dreams of a playoff appearance, the Mariners suddenly find themselves challenging for a top 10 draft selection in next year’s draft. Fivethirtyeight now gives the M’s a 5% chance of making the postseason, so nobody could fault you for rooting for an (exciting and encouraging) Mariners loss today.
To that end, here’s the lineup the Mariners will be running out today.
Justin Dunn will be taking the hill against Dinelson Lamet, who is having a quietly excellent year with a 2.12 ERA and 2.68 FIP. The lineup otherwise looks more-or-less standard for the M’s. Oh, and it looks like they’ll be facing yet another familiar face today.
The Padres will activate Austin Adams before today's game.
