Last night the Mariners played some pretty flat and uninspiring baseball, at least from an offensive perspective, and the Angels won, catapulting them out of first place in the Kumar Rocker sweepstakes and into third, just a twitch in front of the Mariners. In fact, the bottom of the standings are an AL West trifecta, with the Angels, Mariners, and Rangers third, fourth, and fifth-worst in baseball, respectively. However, it must be said, only one of those clubs is explicitly rebuilding, although the Angels have turned into sellers themselves at the deadline, dealing Tommy La Stella mid-game last night to Oakland in exchange for Franklin Barreto, who I admit to confusing with Jorge Mateo, in that “group of promising Oakland prospects who never quite clicked” (Profar is part of that group too). This means, unfortunately, the Mariners must continue to face Tommy La Stella, which is annoying and a little bit rude, honestly. At least the Mariners had the decency to sell out of the division.
Tonight it’s Justus Sheffield on the mound for the Mariners, or as I like to think of it, the meaty middle of the Mariners’ 24-and-under rotation sandwich. (Apologies to Justin Dunn for implying he is bread. No apologies to Nicky Marge.) Justus will be opposed by Dylan Bundy, ostensibly the Angels’ best pitcher, who might be traded mid-game as well. Watch the skies for a pinstriped helicopter piloted by Brian Cashman to appear over Angel Stadium, drop a rope ladder, and whisk Bundy away to the Big Apple. There’s a good chance that will be more entertaining than anything that happens in this game.
Lineups!

No Evan White again, but we do have an update:
Evan White's MRI on his right shoulder didn't show any issues and he'll do some pregame work today to test it further. Not in lineup today, but will see how he feels going forward. #Mariners

Also, a Dylan Moore update! Maybe this means he will be rejoining the team soon, assuming his sprained wrist has cleared up (no sign of a brace in these photos). I MISS YOU, MY WASP-WAISTED KING.
Congratulations to Dylan Moore, his wife Paola, and the Robles-Moore families on the birth of baby Lucas José! Lucas is the Moore’s second child, joining older sister Pía. pic.twitter.com/cLRffMAsQM
