Good morning folks! As of now, the season is still on. Players are rapidly testing positive for COVID-19 and the league is about to reach a decision point, if they haven’t already. With that in mind, here’s what you need to know today.
In Mariners news...
- You’ve got to make sure the haters hear you.

- Greg Johns wrote about the kind of impression young infielder Noelvi Marte is leaving on people in Mariners camp.
Around the league...
- MLB umpire Joe West does not fear the virus and plans to participate in the season.
- Despite the fact that his wife is pregnant, Brock Holt has not considered sitting the season out because he thinks doing so would be career suicide for him.
- An ownership group is forming in Nashville in an attempt to bring Major League Baseball to Tennessee. The team would also be the first-ever Black-owned MLB club.
- You often see people talk about what players could break out in any given season. Dan Szymborski takes it the other way, discussing players he thinks could take a downturn in 2020.
- But Szymborski has his breakout candidates for the season too.
- According to Jayson Jenks at The Athletic, most fans blame owners for the current labor strife. ($)
- The Mets and Yankees will be facing off against each other in a special series next year to honor the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
- The Braves are having internal discussions about the use of the tomahawk chop at their games.
Anders’ picks...
