FanPost Friday: How the AL and NL West was won

Who will survive and what will be left of them?

That’s the tagline from the 1974 horror classic “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” Hopefully, it won’t be how we look back on the 2020 MLB season.

We’re all aware of how COVID-19 infections have spread among the Miami Marlins roster and staff, leading to the postponement of their games against their East Coast hub rivals. This morning, more bad news broke as the Milwaukee Brewers postponed their home opener due to 2 positive tests among their opponents, the St. Louis Cardinals.

Feels bad!

Let me say here that I do not intend to make light of COVID-19 or the fact that MLB is attempting to push on while infections are spreading among teams out east and now the midwest. The situation gets more grim each day, it seems. Frankly, it’s amazing no teams in the AL an NL West haven’t had any positive tests yet. Fingers are crossed that it stays that way.

Anyways, here is today’s slightly macabre FanPost Friday prompt and poll. Please feel free to elaborate on your vote choices in the comments!

Let’s say the AL & NL West are the only divisions able to finish the 2020 MLB season. What are the most likely outcomes?

If the AL & NL West teams are the only teams able to keep playing, should the rest of the season be converted into a shorter, single elimination round robin tournament or just press on with the schedule as is?

Also, make sure to go back and check out last week’s poll results! The 2-6 voters had the strongest showing, but the hateration must have fueled the Mariners’ fire!
