The Mariners look to get their first win of the season with a decidedly suspect lineup

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Sunday! The sun is shining down on Seattle, the birds are chirping, and the Mariners are gearing up to play their third game of the season. Some rough play on pitching, defense, and hitting has precluded their getting a win so far, but surely it’s only a matter of time. Maybe even today?

You might think that. You might then look at the lineups.

Today's Lineups

MARINERS ASTROS
Shed Long - 2B George Springer - CF
J.P. Crawford - SS Jose Altuve - 2B
Kyle Lewis - CF Michael Brantley - LF
Kyle Seager - 3B Alex Bregman - 3B
Evan White - 1B Yuli Gurriel - 1B
Jose Marmolejos - DH Carlos Correa - SS
Tim Lopes - LF Taylor Jones - DH
Mallex Smith - RF Josh Reddick - RF
Joe Hudson - C Martin Maldonado - C
Yusei Kikuchi - LHP Zack Greinke - RHP

Poor Kyle Seager. Now he must understand how Kyle Seager felt in 2012 and 2013.

With the lineup outclassed from top-to-bottom today, it’ll be nice to focus on Yusei Kikuchi’s performance. The Astros will present a tough first task for him as he looks to rebound from a disastrous rookie season. Either way, we have brunch baseball for the first time in almost a year!
