Back at it today! The Mariners send newly minted #2 starter Taijuan Walker to the mound in his return to Seattle to face newly tommy john’d #2 starter Lance McCullers Jr. Only a couple of small differences for each squad in the lineups today.

Today's Lineups

Shed Long - 2B George Springer - CF
Evan White - 1B Jose Altuve - 2B
Kyle Seager - 3B Alex Bregman - 3B
Kyle Lewis - CF Michael Brantley - LF
Austin Nola - C Yuli Gurriel - 1B
Daniel Vogelbach - DH Carlos Correa - SS
Dee Gordon - LF Josh Reddick - RF
J.P. Crawford - SS Kyle Tucker - DH
Mallex Smith - RF Martin Maldonado - C
Taijuan Walker - RHP Lance McCullers - RHP

Another day of Kyle Lewis, center fielder, is certainly exciting. The Mariners’ young guns had a vicious introduction to MLB pitching last night with Justin Verlander’s slider ripping through them once he learned not to pump fastballs to Kyle Lewis (heh heh). McCullers offers a similar test with his curveball, although there is a significant unknown here: McCullers hasn’t pitched in an MLB game in almost two calendar years thanks to his tommy john surgery. It will be intriguing to see how M’s hitters handle him, and whether he looks like his old self.
