It’s time to get re-acquainted with Major League Baseball!
This quiz is designed not only to get you thinking about baseball again, particularly the league outside of our Mariner bubble, but also to remind you who is on what team. The players here are listed by their current team, and several of them have not played for those teams in a game that counts yet.
On this list you will find four players who were once Seattle Mariners, one who went to a couple practices with them, and one who was here for about 10 minutes before Jerry Dipoto traded him away. Also, before y’all start fact checking me (please do not, I cannot stress this enough, ever fact check me), Baseball-Reference’s list of active home run leaders includes Ian Kinsler, but I left him out because he announced his retirement this offseason and accepted a front office role with the Padres.
The top four players on this list all hail from Latin America and debuted at least 15 years ago. The most recent MLB debut of anyone on this list belongs to the player in the 22nd spot, who came up in 2013. Finally, while he is not in the top 25, Justin Smoak has more home runs than both Charlie Blackmon and Yoenis Céspedes. The world makes less and less sense every day.
