Good morning everyone! The first day of the draft was quite eventful, and we’ll have the rest of the draft completed by the end of the day. Here’s everything you need to know as we await those selections.

In Mariners news...

  • Now that the Mariners have added Emerson Hancock to the fold, check out Seth Emerson’s piece at The Athletic from back in February about his rise in Georgia’s program. ($)
  • Shannon Drayer wrote about the M’s addition of Hancock, in which she says she expects the righty to sign for slot value.

Around the league...

  • Our bat flips over here are still so behind the times.
  • I’m sure there are a lot of guys in the undrafted pool who are paying attention to how teams are treating players.
  • This will be worth keeping an eye on...
  • Dan Szymborski at Fangraphs looks at which teams have suffered the most from letting players go in the draft.

Anders’ picks...

  • NASCAR has officially banned the Confederate flag at its events.
