3/5/2020: Open Game Thread

The drum beat of Spring Training marches on

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Hello everyone, and welcome to Thursday baseball! Believe it or not, today is exactly three weeks from Opening Day! That’s right, today’s game will start just 505 hours before the Mariners’ first baseball game of the regular season.

The Mariners will take on the Padres today on the heels of yesterday’s snoozer loss against the Angels. Here are the lineups.

Unlike yesterday’s lineup, today’s is likely (and hopefully) pretty far from what we’ll see in the regular season. Carlos González, José Marmolejos, and Sam Haggerty mark noteable inclusions that may not see the Opening Day roster, while Dee Gordon and Austin Nola may not start.

That isn’t to say this won’t be interesting — the Mariners are running out four likely Opening Day starters, and it’ll be nice to see what Yusei Kikuchi can do against a lineup featuring Jurickson Profar, Manny Machado, and Eric Hosmer, among others.

Here are your options for tuning into the game:

  • Both the Mariners and Padres will have radio streams available through their respective websites.
  • 710 AM ESPN Seattle will broadcast the game on a delay, starting at 7:10 PM PST.
  • Other than that, looks like you’ll have to follow on Game Day — neither team appears to have a video stream of this one.
  • The game starts at 12:10 PM PST.
