Today it is March and that means the Major League Baseball season opens at the end of the month. I don’t know about you all, but I’m so happy it’s nearly here. The excitement around the start of baseball season is always fun, much like the links you’re about to read.
In Mariners news...
- Well...Evan White didn’t play again yesterday, and now we know why he’s been out of action:
Rookie first baseman Evan White is being held out -- hasn't played since Wednesday -- due to some soreness in his groin muscles. Just being cautious and he's expected to be back in lineup by Monday. #Mariners

- A few weeks before spring training began, I had one of the Mariners Mondays broadcasts on tv. My 4-year-old saw it and said sadly, “We really miss Ichiro.” Then, she sighed deeply and continued plaintively, “But we don’t know where he is.” Luckily, he has been found in his post-baseball playing life as a coach with the Mariners. He seems to be adjusting and finding satisfaction in his new role.
- For the last day of Black History Month yesterday, Paul Silvi took a look at the Mariners’ roster makeup, which ranks in the top 5 in number of African-Americans among major league teams, and asked why aren’t more Black athletes pursuing baseball?
- On that same note:
On behalf of my teammates with the @Mariners we have signed 12 baseballs that will be sent out to a foundation as a tribute to honor #BlackHistoryMonth #BiggerThanUs pic.twitter.com/FQt7P5oIom

- Kenta Maeda revealed on his YouTube channel that he requested a trade away from Los Angeles.
- Chipper Jones fulfills a life-long dream:

Amanda’s picks...
- The Seattle Times has a profile on Husky gymnastics senior Kristyn Hoffa. I know I’m rooting for her to get a perfect 10. Maybe today against Utah if the scoring gets out of hand early?
Since the article didn’t have a video of her, here’s a routine from earlier in the season:
