Game two of Spring Training is here, with the Mariners hosting the Cubs in Peoria. While this game will not be broadcast by ROOT (nor will any of the games this week until Saturday, frustratingly), the Cubs shiny new “Marquee Sports Network” will have the game on. If you’re craving video footage, you can watch that stream via MLB.TV. If there’s no means to access that for you, the game will be on radio via 710 AM and the MLB app.

Today’s game features Marco Gonzales on the hill, with an assortment of mostly secondary players behind him. This lineup features the first look at Carlos Gonzalez, Jose Siri, and Patrick Wisdom in Mariners uniforms, as well as the first playing time of the spring from several returning faces, including potential Opening Day RF Jake Fraley. We should also get another look at Julio Rodriguez, Jarred Kelenic, and Cal Raleigh in the subs.

Austin Nola will be behind the dish, giving a chance to see the converted shortstop show his improvements catching, with a Cubs lineup that is terrifying at the top and falls off steeply afterwards. Old friend Ian Miller gets the start in the Cubs outfield today, backing up RHP Adbert Alzolay on the hill, who has a reasonable chance at being in the Cubbies rotation when they break camp. The full list of reserves can be found here:

As much of our staff either works during the day or is in school, recaps for spring games may go up a bit later than typical in-season ‘caps, but we will have them. Thanks for your patience, and check out the start to our Lookout Landing 2020 prospect rankings here while you wait!
