Hello everyone! With our first off day of the World Series out of the way, we’re ready to resume play today. Here’s what you need to know before the big game.
In Mariners news...
- Congratulations to Evan, who was named a Gold Glove finalist alongside fellow AL West first basemen Yuli Gurriel and Matt Olson.
Not bad for a rookie.

- A trio of Mariners relievers have elected free agency. This comes as no surprise given that the bullpen is largely a revolving door at the moment.
Around the league...
- Jeff Idelson, the former president of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, told Daniel Brown at The Athletic some exclusive stories on a half dozen Hall of Famers. ($)
- Really? After we just played an entire season with the DH in both leagues?

- The Angels, who are still searching for a GM, are expected to be major players for Didi Gregorius this winter. How they know that without knowing who will be in charge of making such decisions is beyond me.
- The Red Sox have reportedly interviewed former MLB outfielder Will Venable for their managerial opening. However, it is reportedly likely the team will opt to re-hire Alex Cora after his year-long hiatus.
- Our very own Jake Mailhot wrote a story at Fangraphs about the electric postseason performance for Corey Seager to this point.
