In Mariners news...
- Shoot, this stinks.
Austin Shenton to the IL for West Virginia, which is a bummer both for him and for Bobby Honeyman, who I've been hoping they would promote to Modesto with Shenton playing well at 3B. Boo, boo, boo.— Lookout Landing (@LookoutLanding) August 21, 2019
- Yesterday was a super cool moment for Jake, who got to fulfill his dream.

We did it guys! My army knows who they are and I cannot thank you guys enough for the countless sacrifices you made, the time you made to make sure I was always okay and just loving on me through this whole journey! We made it! As we are about to start the next journey together I just ask that we all stay the course! Nothing changes! I can’t thank my wife @angelicafraley enough, words don’t describe the love I have for you! You have made SO many sacrifices for my dream to come true and for that I’m forever grateful! Maybe a new belt is coming your way soon.. haha with all that said all praise and Glory gods to my Lord and Savior! This game is my passion but my focus doesn’t change, it stays locked on Jesus and I can’t wait to see how he impacts this clubhouse!
Around the league...
- Major League Baseball has issued a warning to its players against taking...sexual enhancers?
- The Braves have brought former top Mariners prospect Alex Jackson back up to the big leagues.
- Baseball America wonders if robot umpires could create a reshaping of the strike zone.
- Well this is hilarious.
I don't think I've seen something like this before: Ethan Wilson from the Mets media relations department inadvertently walked in on a live shot of the TV booth to report they they were wrong about Marcus Stroman's injury. pic.twitter.com/WwtwCyjtr3— Roger Cormier (@yayroger) August 22, 2019
- My head hurts.
Nick Castellanos tells Joe Maddon "Happy Opening Day" before every game— Rick Tarsitano (@RickTarsitano) August 21, 2019
I asked him why
"Prove to me it's not"
"If what has happened is a memory and whats going to happen is a thought, you're taking yourself out of right now. So in that case, every day is Opening Day" @WGNNews pic.twitter.com/Bzn37s2Eiu
- Russell Martin is mulling over the idea of retirement.
- This is so weird.
