Yesterday the Mariners played a 14-inning game against the Astros. They lost the game, and also an important part of their lineup:

There is one bright spot in this, and it’s that when Tayler Scott (inevitably) makes his debut, he’ll become the first pitcher from South Africa ever to make the majors.

In other injury news: Jarred Kelenic is out of Modesto’s lineup tonight after jamming his wrist stealing second yesterday, although it’s not considered a serious injury. Jake Fraley was lifted from Arkansas’ lineup in the first game of a doubleheader after colliding with a fellow player trying to catch a flyball and has not appeared in the second game of the doubleheader. The Mariners will almost certainly need another outfielder with Haniger headed to the IL and Bishop already there, so it’s worth monitoring the lineups in Arkansas and Tacoma for the next couple days. (Ian Miller was not in Tacoma’s original lineup, but did appear in the lineup that the team just tweeted out.)

There are a bunch of other injury updates you can read on Divish’s twitter feed. In short: Healy still hurt, Félix and Strickland are preparing to throw live bullpens, and Dee Gordon might be back this series.

Game time: 7:07; game is on ROOT NW, 710 ESPN, and MLB tv if you’re lucky enough to live far, far away.

Also if you check Divish’s feed, you can see a bunch of pictures from the pre-game cow milking contest, if that’s your kind of thing:
