Things come at you quickly in a two-game series. The Mariners have had a dominant start to the season on the road, but with yesterday’s loss they’ve officially failed to win a road series for the first time all season. A split is still within reach, but the matchup is a tricky one today.
King Félix has looked reasonable enough, but Padres starter Chris Paddack has looked every bit the budding stud he’s seemed in the minors. When the Padres played Seattle in a pre-season exhibition at T-Mobile Park, Paddack was a strikeout machine, and will face an M’s squad coming off just their second dingerless game of the year. Pleasantly, the M’s are leaning into their OBP abilities, putting 1B(!) Daniel Vogelbach in the two-hole behind Mitch Haniger. Jay Bruce gets another day off to rest his quad, and the rest of the lineup looks as expected.
