Sundays are always a nice refresher before starting a brand new week of *gestures vaguely at whatever this is.*
The Mariners are in a position to end this week on a positive note and carry that momentum into a series with Cleveland. Unfortunately, they have to face probably the best team in the American League and one of its best pitchers. The euphoric offense that started the season produced its first one-run performance of the season last night, and is in the midst of a stretch against elite pitching. Watching their at-bats against Carrot Cole, needing a win to avoid a sweep, will be a fascinating use of a weekend afternoon.
Ryon Healy and Mallex Smith are on the bench today. Daniel Vogelbach is hitting third, though, which rules. Houston, interestingly, is starting left-handed hitting Tony Kemp against a left-handed starting pitcher, removing Jake Marisnick’s right-handed bat and terrific glove from the lineup.
