If you saw this coming, you’re either a god damn liar or maybe you’re the most optimistic part of Jerry Dipoto’s psyche. Either way, surprise! The 2019 Mariners have defied everyone’s projections through 15 games and have slugged their way to an absolutely absurd 13-2 record. So, let’s pretend YOU’RE in charge of this surprising extra-potent and resilient team of crafty vets, young studs, and bounce-backers. How are you going to steer the ship for the rest of 2019?
You’re in charge of the 13-2 Seattle Mariners. What’s your next move?
There are a few obvious paths I see:
- BUY! Acquire more talent, namely starting pitchers and relievers. But, at what cost?
- SELL! This is more the expected path going into the season. No way this lasts, right? Eyes on the price of 2020/2021 and beyond! Let’s actively shop veterans like Jay Bruce, Edwin Encarnacíon, Anthony Swarzak, etc, in exchange for either young MLB talent or top 200ish prospect talent.
- HOLD! Um, have you seen the dingers this lineup is hitting? Why would you fix something if it ain’t broken? Ride this bad boy ‘til the wheels fall off, wooooooo!!!!
What other paths are out there? Sure, it’s probably too early to actually execute any buying or selling plans, but it’s never too early to start prepping your options. So, tell us your plan for the 2019 Mariners at this point in a FanPost and we’ll front page the best submissions over the weekend. Be sure to pick a fun photo with the photo tool.
Happy Friday and go freakin’ Mariners!
