After a brief prologue in Japan, today we begin Chapter 1/162: Volume 44 of the Seattle Mariners.
The 2-0 Seattle Mariners send Marco Gonzales to the hill, Mitch Haniger to the leadoff spot, and Mallex Smith to the seven-hole in his official Mariner debut. The home team has the pleasure and privilege of facing Chris Sale and the World Series champion Boston Red Sox. Opening Day’s undeniable charm and springing hope could evaporate with every delivery from Sale’s arm.
Nevertheless, the weather is beautiful, the M’s are undefeated, and we have baseball in Seattle once more. For those attending today’s festivities, let the soothing waves of live baseball wash over you, and may the beer-tinged cries of XANDAAHHH FRIGGIN’ BOGAAAHHTTS from visiting fans avoid you.
