Where is Everybody?

Gregory Shamus/Getty Images

So, with pitchers and catchers reporting I started looking at other teams' rosters to see what former Mariners might still be around, and then I decided to start documenting it. The following list is not intended to be some great work of rhetorical mastery like is expected here at LL, but hopefully it's interesting to somebody and serves as a nice trip down memory lane. I've tried to capture two distinct groupings below:

  1. Every former Mariner or Mariner minor leaguer currently on a major league roster, major league coaching staff, or with an invite to spring training.
  2. A status update on every Mariner that has worn the major league uniform since 2004 that is not associated with a major league team and still appears to be involved in professional/collegiate baseball in some capacity. If they are not listed, assume they are either currently a Mariner or have retired.

The caveat applies here that this may not be perfect - I'm but one person and that was a lot of names, so please leave any additions/subtractions/corrections in the comments because I'm interested in them. I've tried to put some blurb after every currently-affiliated player to remind folks who they are.

So here we go, starting with current major league teams from most to least Mariner-y:

Tampa Bay Rays (9)

On the 40-Man Roster:

· 1B Ji-Man Choi (we let him go unceremoniously years ago)

· C Mike Zunino (formerly our catcher)

Non-Roster Invitees:

· RP Tyler Cloyd (he showed up briefly in 2017)

· RP Andrew Kittredge (one of the guys we traded for Taylor Motter)

· CF Jarrod Dyson (fast)

· CF Ketel Marte (traded for Segura, if you somehow forgot)

· RP Mark Rzepczynski (boo)
