Good evening! Last night I returned from Phoenix to see the M’s take two out of three from the Diamondbacks. Although they ultimately lost ground, Chase Field is a delight, and you can get a hot dog and beer for a grand total of SIX DOLLARS. I’m almost 100% certain you can’t find a deal like that at any other pro sports stadium. After the off day yesterday, the first matchup of the vaunted Vedder Cup begins.

For the second time in four games, Nelson Cruz gets the start in right field. While he had just one ball hit to him on Saturday, Neli in the field will never fail to make me nervous, and hopefully the team can jump out to a sizable lead so he can rest after seven or so. Guillermo Heredia - just called up yesterday - would be a good choice there.
Félix takes the hill against Jacob Nix, who is making just his fourth big league start. His numbers look ugly because of a) a sample size of just 11.2 innings and b) an outing against Arizona in which he got torched, but the 22-year-old had had a very solid year at Double-A before getting the call to the bigs. He’s been a little wild in the early going, and hopefully that can continue tonight.
