8/18/18: Open Game Thread

Let’s hope the M’s can win this one...

Yesterday was not fun baseball. Given that tomorrow’s matchup is Clayton Kershaw against Roenis Elías, it sure seems like tomorrow will not be fun baseball. (Though I suppose baseball can be quite a finicky game...)

I wish I had more optimism to deliver right now, but Erasmo Ramirez, as competent as he was in his last start with the M’s, doesn’t inspire much confidence. Meanwhile, the Dodgers lineup is stacked with All-Stars at virtually every position. To wit:

My quick thoughts:

  • Welcome back, Yasiel Puig. This game is more fun with you in it.
  • Dee Gordon has started at shortstop for two straight games. If we’re comfortable with Dee at short, then why is Andrew Romine even on the roster? Aggravating.
  • That Dodgers lineup really is terrifying.

Anyway, John and I will be watching together. Send us your questions, your concerns, and your wildest dreams. Perhaps, like the Mariners stringing together a few hits and a few runs tonight, they too can be realized.
