The Mariners look to bounce back tonight against Angels rookie right-hander Jaime Barria, who has faced Seattle in two of his last three starts. The 22-year-old from Panama City, Panama allowed three earned runs on five hits and two hit batters while striking out five against the Mariners back on July 11.
Manager Scott Servais questionably (but predictably) opted to run Ryon Healy back out at first base tonight while Dan Vogelbach rots away on the bench despite Healy’s 0-4 performance last night and going hitless in six career at-bats facing Barria.
Felix was tagged for five earned runs through 5.2 innings back on May 6 in his only start against the Angels this season, but it’s worth noting that he’d thrown a shutout through 5.2 innings before unraveling after a dropped third strike that broke open the dam.
