Lookout Landing Podcast 54: Having fun with the Mariners, Rocky Angels, and Bananas Foster

ooooooh we’re halfway there

Kate and John finally record the podcast they were supposed to do last Thursday but John forgot he was moving/had the mistaken idea moving isn’t all that time-intensive. As a result, it’s another long one as we now have even more games to discuss. There’s a little bit of a weird moment where I had to stitch two halves of the pod together because I got overly excited about John’s poor rendition of Edwin Díaz’s entrance song. Sorry if it is jarring. (The podcast glitch, not John’s humming, although you are forgiven for thinking that.)

0 - 10:00: Apologia, the pain of moving, Kate provides a map to (Mariners) stars homes, and John gently reminds everyone this is a baseball podcast.

10:00-24:00: Winning the games you’re supposed to win, the run differential, and how the Mariners are good conservationists. Marveling over the Mariners and Competent Baseball. Kate invents a stat called RUET [“Are you even trying?”]. John casually obliterates the Astros.

24:00 - 50:00 Previewing the upcoming 12 game/2-team series. Are the Angels broken beyond repair? What’s wrong with Colorado’s offense, and will they give us Jon Gray if we ask really nicely? Also Kate and John play everyone’s favorite new game: Where in the World is Roenis Elías?

50:00 - end: Questions!

Music: Good Vibrations (the Beach Boys); Rocky Mountain High (John Denver); Going Back to Cali (the Notorious B.I.G.)

Note: If you’re searching for the podcast to subscribe (and we would love it if you did) please be aware that it is listed as simply “Lookout Landing” and not “Lookout Landing 2.0” which is understandably confusing. We’re sorry.
