Let’s get right to it.

I don’t need to tell you why this needed to happen. Isabelle told us yesterday. And we all knew anyway. The main new takeaway from this side of the transaction is that I can’t rule out, at this point, that Isabelle isn’t a Jerry burner account. Prove me wrong, folks.
I do feel for Marc Rzepczynski—being fired sucks and it’s hard to see him getting major league innings for anyone this year unless he fixes some things in a big way. However, he also got paid $11mm the last two years to live in Seattle, and so I feel better for him. Thanks, Marc. Sincerely. It was a tough job and we were pretty mean.
Old friend Roenis Elias is back in Seattle now after being reacquired from the Red Sox. We’re familiar with his profile generally but while the club stated they intended to stretch him out to start, it seems likely that he slides into more of a long relief role while James Pazos becomes the Lefty One Out Guy Who Actually Gets Righties Out Pretty Well Too, or LOOGYWAGROPWT as they say in the business. Since being reacquired, Elías has thrown 31 middling innings for Tacoma. He should mostly face low-leverage or mop-up duty in his early time in Seattle. Welcome back, buddy. Hope we don’t have Sean Barber behind home plate soon.
