Have you ever stumbled into something you feel unworthy of being involved in? That’s how I feel about threading and recapping today’s game. Felix Hernandez vs. Shohei Ohtani in the rubber match of the first series against the Angels when the Mariners are a half game out of first place in the division? This game has so much to offer us! Let’s enjoy it together.
Here are the lineups:
How about former Mariner Jabari Blash getting the start in right?
Ohtani had a strong start to the season on the hill, notching 18 strikeouts in 13 while running a 1.86 FIP in his first two starts; however, he didn’t enjoy as much success in his next two starts. In those appearances, his walk rate skyrocketed to 8.59 and batters made hard contact significantly more often. He hasn’t started since May 6th because of a blister issue. We will see if a now fully healthy Ohtani will return to his early season form.

Here are two bonus things for you.
- This is sort of unrelated but cool.
I got a ton of requests for this.... A time lapse for every hit of Ichiro's @mlb career. pic.twitter.com/w8uhzlSnp0

- This is a cool stat about the Ners and Mike Zunino.
The #Mariners are 9-3 in games Mike Zunino starts at catcher. 10-10 when he doesn’t.

Hit go-ahead HR (41-degree launch angle HR) in 8th before Ryon Healy’s heroics in the 11th. https://t.co/0T3O7b0nfg
