Last night Jean Segura got kicked upside the head, Nick Vincent left the game with a groin injury, Kyle Seager and Ryon Healy combined to go 0-for-10, and the Mariners still won.
What kind of unexpected wizardry will today bring?
The #Mariners at one time this season (maybe just one time) had a top of the order of Dee, Segura, Cano. Today it's Heredia, Gamel, Haniger. Injuries mounting. Oh.
This morning in Marinerland started with a flurry of roster moves, which probably close the door on the Taylor Motter era and open it for Alex Colomé.

These Mariners will try their absolute hardest to complete the sweep today, facing the Twins’ best pitcher (on his 24th birthday, no less) with Chris Herrmann, Gordon Beckham, and Andrew Romine occupying the bottom third of the order. If it makes you feel any better, last time José Berríos started against the M’s he allowed five earned runs over 4.2 innings in that game from early April that was played inside a refrigerator. This is also the Mariners’ last meeting with an AL Central team until June 29 against the Royals. While the team has amassed an 18-8 record against baseball’s worst division, the same group of teams have also made it their personal duties to injure all of our players. I will not miss them.
Today, birthday boy Berríos toes the rubber at Safeco Field on an absolutely gorgeous day in Seattle. I don’t want to tell you how to live your life, but this afternoon might be a good time to go outside and spend time with loved ones.
Then again, I will be hunched over a laptop, groggy and dehydrated, mumbling to nobody at all that Guillermo Heredia is the key that unlocked the 2018 Mariners.
If you want to join me in this endeavor, that’s fine too.
