“Ah, a nice Mariners-Rangers game,” you say, waking up from a week-long coma. “How I look forward to watching stars like Adrián Beltré, Robinson Canó, and Nelson Cruz play baseball! I look forward to turning on ROOT Sports (where we ROOT for things!) and watching this game on my television.”
Oh, how things change in a few short days. With Beltré on the DL, Cruz out of the lineup after being hit by a pitch, and Robbie felled by a drug test (and a hand injury to boot), today’s “Facebook Game of the Week” might feature the worst Mariners lineup of the season.

Due to Saturday’s doubleheader, the M’s elected to call up Christian Bergman rather than have Marco Gonzales start on three days’ rest. He takes Erik Goeddel’s spot on the roster, as Goeddel (who is out of minor league options) was designated for assignment. Let’s hope he clears waivers and makes it down to Tacoma.
But even with an iffy-at-best lineup, we can look forward to watching Bartolo Colón go to work for the Rangers. Which reminds me: two years ago, I went to a Mets game with my brother excited to see Bartolo not only pitch, but also hit for the first time. So, naturally, the first batter of the game hit a line drive up the middle that ricocheted off Colón, and he left with an injury. Once a Mariners fan, always a Mariners fan.
