First pitch of today’s game is scheduled for 10:10 am PDT. The last six Mariner games have started at 5:10, 2:10, 11:10, 3:10, 4:10, and 1:10. It makes sense if you don’t think about it.
Regardless of what the silly little clock says, the time is N:OW for the M’s to win an early statement series against the AL Central favorites. In the first five games of the season series with Cleveland, each was decided by one run. The Mariners held tight and refused to let go, as if mirroring a successful team would turn themselves into one. The strategy seemed to have work, as they took three of five from Cleveland and proved they could win close ones against the American League’s elite.
But then, yesterday happened. Seattle stormed into Cleveland and hung a football score, putting up 12 runs in a game started by Carlos Carrasco. Today, the Mariners face Josh Tomlin. Last time Tomlin “pitched” he lasted just 3.2 innings against the Cubs and had four of his offerings deposited into the Progressive Field seats. Tomlin has pitched 12.2 innings this season and surrendered eight long balls. This should be music to the Mariners’ homer-happy lineup’s ears.

Marco Gonzales will be the Mariner pitcher tasked with bringing home a series win. It would be super cool if he did that.
