The Mariners are playing a baseball game, one day after they played a different baseball game. This season is finally starting to develop a rhythm, even if first pitch is an hour earlier than many of us are used to.
Saturday night’s game is the second in a string of 10 consecutive AL West tilts, and, after the baseball gods heard us cursing them for all of the Mariners’ cancelled games, part of 17 games in 17 days. Strap in, get some snacks, and wait for the sun to finally make its long-awaited return.
Seattle welcomes Kendall Graveman, he of the 9.45 ERA in three starts, to face a lineup that includes Nelson Cruz again. This pushes Mitch Haniger back down to the six spot in the order, which is a fun way of saying that the Mariners offense is gooooood. Marco Gonzales takes the bump for the M’s, facing a right-handed heavy A’s lineup of two Matts, a Mark, a Marcus, and the least-talented Thompson brother playing in Oakland
