This week there’s real baseball to talk about, even if it was, to borrow a phrase, served “tapas-style.” Kate and John go over the road trip and reveal themselves to be typical entitled Mariners fans, and preview the upcoming homestand, revealing themselves to be Great Greedy Guts (John) and Opposable Thumbs Eeyore (Kate). The majority of the episode is devoted to listener questions, in which John pretends not to actually be a big Cardi B fan, Kate hopes Darlene from Roseanne is living her truth in the reboot, and John provokes Kate’s ire/feelings of age-related existential despair by revealing he has never ever, not once in his life, heard of the seminal MTV show Daria. Someone find me a neck to stand on. For there being actual baseball to talk about, this is probably the least we’ve ever talked about baseball. Sorry about that.
0:00 - 10:00 - Discussion of the road trip, fretting over opportunities lost or taken, entitlement run amok.
10:00 - 24:12 - The upcoming homestand, lamentations about the Angels, fretting over pitching.
24:12-24:42 - Break!
24:42 - End - Questions! What to do with Ichiro? Who will use Ben Gamel hats for evil? Movie recommendations from our formative years that veer in two wildly different directions. Kate attempts to describe Fortnite based on Instagram videos. A surprising amount of singing. We play Pop Culture Jeopardy! and fail to advance to the bonus round, because all our free time is spent watching baseball.
MUSIC: Nicest Kids in Town - Hairspray; Pray For Me - The Weeknd ft. Kendrick Lamar; Be Careful - Cardi B
Note: If you’re searching for the podcast to subscribe (and we would love it if you did) please be aware that it is listed as simply “Lookout Landing” and not “Lookout Landing 2.0” which is understandably confusing. We’re sorry.
