In an effort to better replicate the regular season, the M’s have more night games than ever before this spring, the first of which comes tonight against the division-rival Angels. Rob Whalen takes the hill for the Mariners, looking to build upon an impressive outing February 25 against the Dodgers during which he fanned three in two innings, allowing just one hit and one walk.

The M’s appear to be going with what’s expected to be their Opening Day lineup, with only those limited by injuries (Haniger, Healy, Gamel) missing from the starting nine. The Angels appear to be doing just the opposite, deploying just two of their expected starters (Valbuena, Maldonado).
We should be able to get another look at The Tall Wall tonight after a shaky debut against the Cubs last week, and reliever David Phelps is scheduled to make his first appearance of the spring after rehabbing an elbow injury.
