It’s Friday and I’m ready to sleep.

Hello friends, it’s John, filling in for Anders as he is overwhelmed by March Madness-related responsibilities. It is late and I am sleepy when I write this, and yet in the morning when you see it you may be wakeful. As a child I would rage at my parents for bringing coffee in the car on long road trips. The smell was awful and exacerbated the suffering of my father’s rapid swerving. Now I understand.

In Mariners news...

  • Jean Segura and Ichiro Suzuki appear to not be suffering from any major injury and their early removal seems to have been precautionary.
  • Ariel Miranda appeared to confuse the radar gun at the Athletics’ Spring Training stadium.
  • Mike Marjama may miss some action after fouling a ball off his leg on Wednesday.
  • Seattle added some depth to their minors with RHP Josh Smith, who has mixed starting and relieving in Cincinnati and Oakland.
  • Mariners minor leaguer Braden Bishop is being honored for his charitable work.
  • Director of High Performance Dr. Lorena Martin expects nearly all the Mariners’ notable recent injuries to be cleared up by Opening Day.
  • Some popular new eats will be available at Safeco this season.
  • A certain Kate Preusser teamed up with former Lookout Landing editor Patrick Dubuque to put together the season preview for the Mariners on behalf of Baseball Prospectus.

Around the league...
