- The Mariners are talking with the Phillies about a deal centered around Jean Segura and JP Crawford.
#Mariners have shown interest in shortstop J.P. Crawford as one piece from #Phillies in a possible deal for Jean Segura, sources tell The Athletic. Per @JSalisburyNBCS, PHI would still pursue Machado as a free agent (to play 3B) if they acquired Segura in a trade.

- Greg Johns broke down the financial impact of the Mariners’ deal with the Mets.
Heyman with the finances. That would mean Mariners picking up Bruce and Swarzak contracts of about $36M over next 2 years, plus sending $20M. And Mets would be on hook now for Cano’s $120M over 5 years. So Mariners essentially saving $64M or so. https://t.co/bHEd82BO3M

- The M’s still have several expensive players on their payroll.
Even with Cano's contract gone, #Mariners still owe $119.25 million to eight players in 2019 (Hernandez 27, Seager 19, Leake 16, Gordon 13, Segura 14.25, Nicasio 9, Bruce 13, Swarzak 8. I'd expect all those players will be shopped (Felix being the most untradeable).
