* roll the dice *
Seven! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven...
You're in the first inning. It's early, and you don't know much at all, so you guess wildly.
"Uhhh, Nelson Cruz, in the first inning, with a grand slam!"
A quick shake of the head, a flash of Robinson Canó strikeout, with a poorly hidden Yulieski Gurriel sacrifice fly tucked behind it.
* roll the dice *
Four! One, two, three, four...
You're in the second inning, and you have a bad feeling, but there's still plenty of hope.
"George Springer, gulp, in the second inning, with a (oh please, oh please) double play?"
A nod! A smile! You were correct! (The Sasquatch of the South was also spotted mashing a solo home run, but you don't get to know that, since you guessed correctly.)
* roll the dice *
Twelve! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve...
You're in the third inning, at the Astros' microscopic home park. There's a decent chance the wheels could have fallen off, so...
"Carlos Beltran, in the third inning, with a three-run homer?"
No! They shuffle their cards around, and reveal a Mariners challenge win and subsequent double play. Huzzah!
* roll the dice *
Five! One, two, three, four, five...
You're in the fourth inning, and catastrophe seems to have thus far passed you by. With great hubris, you query...
"Ben Gamel, in the fourth, with a home run (isn't he long overdue)?"
Their shoulders slump disappointedly as they show you a two run inning off of doubles from Norichika Aoki and George Springer. Well then.
* roll the dice *
Eight! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight...
You're in the fifth inning, and this is usually the end of Sam Gaviglio's time in the game.
"Sam Gaviglio, in the fifth, taken out of the game?"
No again! You've never been so happy to be incorrect, and the jubilance grows when they reveal a Kyle Seager double/Jarrod Dyson single. That's great, but isn't this game done yet?
* roll the dice *
Eleven! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven...
You're in the sixth inning, and still curious about Gaviglio's outing.
"Sam Gaviglio, in the sixth, completes the inning?"
Yes! They're grinning, you nailed it. (The Sasquatch of the South was also spotted mashing a solo home run, but you don't get to know that, since you guessed correctly.)
* roll the dice *
Two! One, two...
You're in the seventh inning, surely there has been more scoring by now.
"Danny Valencia, in the seventh, with another double?"
A grimace tells you that you're woefully incorrect. They show you Kyle Seager+Jarrod Dyson strikeouts, and you catch a glimpse of an omni-present Jose Altuve RBI being poorly obscured behind the other cards. This game is interminable.
* roll the dice *
Six! One, two, three, four, five, six...
You're in the eighth inning, it's time to guess wildly with hope.
"The Mariners, in the eighth inning, score a run?"
They smile sneakily and wink. As a bonus for your correct guess, and the near end of the game, they also share this picture with you.

* roll the dice *
Nine! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine...
You've made it to the ninth inning, so it's time to make your final guess.
"The Seattle Mariners, in the ninth, with...sigh...the loss?"
You win!
The Mariners were not supposed to win this game tonight and they lived up to those expectations, thanks to a hefty amount of help from home plate umpire atrocity Dan Bellino. Fortunately, Gaviglio and Emilio Pagan were able to collectively complete the game, which gave the much-depleted bullpen a welcome break, and with James Paxton on the mound against Charlie Morton there's a chance the M's could leave Houston with a series win. Fingers crossed.
